Pamukkale University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations hosted important guests this week in the “Labor Market Practices in Turkey” course. The guest of the course conducted by Prof. Dr. Handan Kumaş was ASKON Demir company.
ASKON Demir Chairman of the Board of Directors Mr. Okan Konyalıoğlu, Deputy General Manager Mr. Murat Özdemir and Human Resources Chief Ms. Destina Aysima Karalp attended the lecture. Destina Aysima Karalp attended. Employer representatives shared their knowledge and experiences with the students and explained the dynamics and expectations of the business world.
Mr. Okan Konyalıoğlu shared his entrepreneurship story and made evaluations on the recruitment process from the employer's perspective, matching problems in the labor market and expectations from young people. Afterwards, Mr. Özdemir and Ms. Karalp shared the company's human resources policies and their experiences in business life with the students.
The most interesting part of the event was the job interview simulation. The sample interview with a volunteer student offered a hands-on experience in which students actively participated as both audience and participants. After the simulation, the participants made evaluations and provided constructive feedback to the students.
At the end of the program, ASKON Demir Çelik presented a book to the student who participated in the job interview and a metal wall painting of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk to the department. In addition, the possibility of internship and job opportunities for students was welcomed by the participants of the course.
Prof. Dr. Handan Kumaş, who is in charge of the course, stated that such events that bring the business world together with the university offer important opportunities for students and thanked the guests
