On the second day of the International Summer Seminars in Economics (EYS), organized by Pamukkale University, the “Denizli Economy Panel” served as a platform uniting representatives from academia, public institutions, and industry. The panel began with the participation of Denizli Governor Ömer Faruk Coşkun and opened with a speech by Pamukkale University Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmud Güngör. In his opening remarks, Rector Güngör stated:

“We are continuing our 23-year tradition of the Summer Seminars in Economics this year with a focus on the Denizli economy. We are moving forward with a strong vision that combines production with knowledge and supports local development. In Denizli, a strong center in industry, agriculture, and exports, we are implementing university–industry collaboration not just as rhetoric but through tangible projects. This cooperation model, which extends from our Technopark to the field, is driving transformation. It also enhances productivity in production, provides hands-on learning opportunities for students, and project experience for academics. This mutually reinforces both the academic quality of our university and the development of our city.”

Moderated by PAU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ersan Öz, the panel addressed Denizli’s economic potential, current challenges across sectors, and opportunities for developing university partnerships from a multidisciplinary perspective.

Panel speakers included Denizli Chamber of Industry (DSO) President Selim Kasapoğlu, Denizli Chamber of Commerce (DTO) President Uğur Erdoğan, Denizli Exporters Association (DENİB) President Hüseyin Memişoğlu, Denizli Organized Industrial Zone (OSB) President Derya Baltalı, Denizli Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) President İbrahim Tefenlili, and South Aegean Development Agency (GEKA) Secretary General Ümit Gülyağı.
