General Information

The recreation department is one of the four departments within Pamukkale University Faculty of Sports Sciences. It started education in 2004, the duration of education is four years, and the language of education is Turkish.

Purposes

The aim of the Recreation Department is to contribute to the understanding of the importance of recreation science in academic and social life and to eliminate the deficiencies in this field in our country, to raise awareness about the need for trained manpower, to educate individuals who are loyal to Atatürk's principles and reforms, respect human rights, have knowledge and experience in the fields of recreation, and research in the light of universal values, to contribute to the development of recreation science and practices with the recreation trainers it has trained and its national and international scientific studies, and to be an institution that pioneers the creation of a physically active and healthy society.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Have knowledge of the historical development and profession in sports and recreation.
  2. Have basic theoretical and practical knowledge about the human body and health.
  3. Willing to take responsibility individually or as a team in recreational activities and/or organizations.
  4. Applies managerial skills for his profession.
  5. Uses information and communication technologies at the level required by the recreation area.
  6. Uses effective communication skills.
  7. Gains the ability to communicate in a foreign language in business life.
  8. Organizes organizations for sports and recreation areas, taking into account individual differences.
  9. He/she applies the leadership model appropriate to the characteristics of the group he/she works with and/or the event organized.
  10. Organizes recreational activities suitable for individuals with special needs.
  11. Evaluates recreational activity and/or organizational processes with a critical perspective.
  12. Provides personal and professional development in the field of recreation according to the requirements of the age.
  13. Benefit from scientific research methods and techniques for his professional development.
  14. Has the responsibility of raising the awareness of the individual and society to use free time effectively.
  15. Applies the knowledge and skills acquired during the undergraduate period to new situations in his life.
  16. Provides training in the chosen sports specialty.
  17. Demonstrates commitment to ethical values.

Admission Requirements

In order to be accepted to the Recreation Department, the candidate must first meet the threshold score determined by the department in the relevant year in the Higher Education Institutions exam, and then be successful in the special talent exam held by the faculty. Students who can take place within the determined quotas are entitled to receive education in the Recreation Department. The criteria for the special talent exam are announced on the web page of the faculty every year.

Graduation Requirements

Students must pass all compulsory and elective courses in the curriculum with good grades, including compulsory practice and summer training. If they meet the minimum grade point average requirement specified in Pamukkale University Undergraduate Education and Training Regulations, they gain the right to graduate.

Career Opportunities

Students who graduate from the Department of Recreation can work in sports centers, therapy centers, municipalities, industrial establishments, Provincial Directorates of Youth and Sports, schools for the disabled, tourism, and sports clubs. If our graduates do postgraduate education, they can work as instructors in the Sports Sciences Faculties of universities.
