ABOUT THE INSTITUTE

Our institute was established by the Council of Ministers Decision dated 04/04/2011 and numbered 2011/1595. With the decisions of the Institute Board of Educational Sciences dated 10/01/2012 (No: 01/1) and the Institute Executive Board dated 06/02/2012 (No: 01/1), students were transferred from the Institutes of Social Sciences and Natural Sciences to the following graduate programs: doctoral, thesis and non-thesis master’s programs in Educational Administration, Supervision, Planning and Economics; doctoral programs in Primary Education; thesis master’s programs in Elementary Education, Preschool Education, Science Education, Social Studies Education, Elementary Mathematics Education; thesis master’s programs in Music Education and Art Education; and thesis master’s programs in Turkish Language Education and English Language Education.

Following decisions of the Executive Board of the Council of Higher Education, several additional programs were launched:

  • Non-thesis Master’s in Elementary Mathematics Education (09/03/2016),

  • PhD in Preschool Education (14/03/2018),

  • PhDs in Physical Education and Sports Teaching, English Language Education, and Music Education (20/02/2019),

  • Thesis Master’s in Family Counseling (12/09/2019),

  • PhDs in Elementary Education, Turkish Language Education, and Science Education (25/03/2020),

  • Non-thesis Master’s programs in Preschool Education, Science Education, Turkish Language Education, and Social Studies Education (01/07/2020).

After the restructuring of Faculties of Education by the Council of Higher Education on 15/06/2016, our institute has continued its postgraduate education activities with 14 thesis-based master’s programs, 9 doctoral programs, and 4 non-thesis master’s programs under 7 departments.

Our institute does not have an independent building of its own; it operates on the fourth floor of the Faculty of Education building at the Kınıklı Campus. The classrooms and practice areas of the Faculty of Education are used to conduct courses.

The academic activities of the departments and graduate education in our institute are carried out by faculty members from the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Sport Sciences.
